30-day challenges are like Justin Bieber or Drake.

They’re annoyingly ubiquitous and pop-y. They’re highly commercial. And they have obnoxious fanbases that you’re probably not a part of.

But they’re famous for good reason:

They’re incredible at what they do.

If you were to experience them up close and in person, you’d be blown away by their ability.

So put aside your preconceptions for a second and consider this…

Open Your Mind to 30-Day Challenge Fandom

The incredible “ability” of 30-day challenges is to get you “acting your way to a new way of thinking.”

Like cheesy pop songs, they Stockholm syndrome you: repeated exposure rewires your brain until you strangely start to enjoy them.

But unlike Bieber’s “Baby” or Drake’s “One Dance,” a 30-day challenge can palpably improve your life. It gives you the first big push you need to free yourself from the ruts of bad habits and boring routines.

Afterward, you feel fantastic, fresh, and proud of yourself. You convert into being an obnoxious fan, like me. And you can’t get enough, so you keep challenging yourself in different ways.

That is why I invited you to join the November to Remember challenge. With support and accountability from me and a private group of maximum 30 people, I guarantee you’ll experience the rewards and become a raving fan.

I thought tickets would sell out fast.

But boy, was I wrong!

My 30-day challenge super-fandom must have distorted my perception of reality because, to my astonishment, only 8 of the 2,361 of you who opened my invite in the previous Consider This signed up so far.

Why?

I suspect part of it is because you haven’t found an inspiring-enough 30-day challenge to dip your toes into.

So I’ve compiled a list of crazy, creative, and life-improving 30-day challenges to broaden your horizons, titillate you, and hopefully win you over.

30-Day Challenge Ideas and Inspiration

Here are 30 30-day challenge ideas in 30 seconds:

  1. A Grand Month. Withdraw $1,000 cash and limit yourself to only spending that for the month.
  2. The Networkout. Spend at least 30 minutes every workday expanding and strengthening your professional network.
  3. Morning Pages. As soon as you wake up, scribble whatever comes to mind for 15 to 20 minutes. A reader inspired me to try this in August. I’ve found it such a helpful way to warm up my brain and come up with ideas that I’m still doing it.
  4. The 30-Day Redirect. 35 people joined me all the way through this in April 2021. Try it on your own by spending a week on each of the four steps I outline for filling out your “GPS” (general personal strategy).
  5. Very Firsty. Do something you’ve never done before every day.
  6. LOL-a-palooza. Do something that makes you laugh every day: Go to comedy shows; Listen to humorous podcasts; Drop in on an improv class; Watch funny movies.
  7. Intermittent Internet Fasting. Intermittent fasting for the internet. Consider the classic 16:8 protocol, where you’d have it for an 8-hour window of every day, then not at all for the other 16.
  8. The Net Creator. Spend more time creating stuff than consuming. So if you want to watch a two-hour movie, you have to offset that with at least two hours of building, writing, or painting something.
  9. Super Pantathlon. A month-long version of my go-to “pant-athlon” HIIT workout format. Pick 5 exercises, a target number of reps you want to do for each, then try to get them all done in a month. An advanced example may be 1,500 burpees, 100 kilometers jogging, 500 pull-ups, 10,000 rope jumps, and 3,000 pushups.
  10. Operation Sliver Removal. Spend the month dealing with all the little things that annoy you: Replace your phone battery, replace burnt-out light bulbs, grease noisy hinges, get your bike tuned up, tidy your garage, get a spare set of keys cut, say that thing that’s been on your mind for ages, etcetera.
  11. The Mind Alterer No alcohol, and in its place do different things that alter your mind’s state: cold exposure, heat exposure, exercise, meditation, marijuana, gratitude journaling, breathing exercises, etcetera.
  12. The Wander-full. Go for a device-free “empty pocket walk” every day to let your mind wander as you wander around. This won the Kaizen Award for Best Monthly Challenge in my 2021 Unrutty Awards.
